Now that I’ve gotten out of the habit of posting, it’s definitely been hard to get back into it. Although I miss it and want to do it. The last week as been busy, busy, busy and this week is too. We’ve been doing more running than usual and we’ve added in one or two new things for the kids, so it’s been an adjustment to the routine too. Amanda had make up driver’s ed as she ended up missing the last half of her driver’s ed session due to having her wisdom teeth pulled and then having semester finals right after that. (Which was very bad timing on our part, not being used to having to schedule around things like finals!) So she’s been going on Monday and Wednesday nights and tonight is her last night!! Then she just has driving time, but they come to our house and pick her up. So that doesn’t take away from our time. Then the older boys are involved in what is called a Shared Learning Experience. We did this last year too. The coordinator picks a topic, last year was pioneers, and then each week each family brings in information from their assigned topic and shares it with the group, then the kids work on a play and at the end of six weeks they put on the play. Last year was a lot of fun and this year is looking good also. This year’s topic in on the Florida pioneers and natives. Which has been an eye opener for me. We didn’t get much east coast history, living on the west coast. J So that means that not only do we have the actual day that we attend that, but in the mean time we’re researching and putting together our presentation and this topic is harder to get good info on than the pioneers.

Today Lee is starting guitar lessons. He’s been wanting to do some sort of instrument for two years, since his older brothers started piano, but now he’s finally old enough and a friend is starting guitar, so he’s going to also.

Yesterday was National Pancake Day and we celebrated by Mom making us a pancake dinner. She made pancakes in the shapes of the letters of all our of our first names and then she made little tiny pancakes, bacon and cheese pancakes and turkey pancakes. She made gravy to go over the turkey pancakes and we put sour cream and salsa on the bacon and cheese pancakes. YUUUUUMMMM!!! For dessert she made chocolate chip pancakes and banana, strawberry pancakes topped with chocolate sauce and whipped cream. Double YUUUUUUMMMMM!!! It was different to eat pancakes with salad and veggies, but it was such a good dinner and the kids LOVED it, of course.

On Sunday Amanda’s high school band had a dinner and concert. It was a fundraiser for the band and it was a nice dinner with spaghetti, salad and rolls and more than anyone could eat of desserts. They were encouraging the kids to eat all they could eat, they had so many! It was nice for us all to get out and just be together.

Things are melting here. We feel like we’re in a heat wave as it’s in the upper 20s to upper 30s right now and we love it. Although I could do without the mud from the thawing!! We still have snow on the ground, but it’s patchy now and will probably be gone by the end of the week. We’ve loved having it and personally I think it should snow from Nov 1st to March 31st, but I’ll take anything we can get. We definitely got more snow this year with the lake effect snow, which is awesome!
